Wynn Family Grants Matching Challenge

The Elaine P. Wynn and Family Foundation has announced a $250,000 Matching Grant for VIP’s Hope Center for Teens, now under construction. This generous challenge was presented by Elaine Wynn, her daughter Kevyn, and her other daughter and H.E.A.R.T. Board member, Gillian, with the caveat that VIP match this amount from individual and family foundations by June 30th.

In Los Angeles, the Department of Children and Family Services has identified over 800 foster teens as high-risk for failing their foster placements. If not placed within a stable family, these teens risk homelessness, dropping out of school, drug addiction, and sexual exploitation. VIP will cater our services to meeting the unique needs of this population, in addition to the nearly 4,000 youth, aged 13-21, that we currently serve within our Children’s Medical Village and community mental health campus. With our long history of building successful, innovative programs and our commitment to strengthening the social safety-net in our communities, the Hope Center for Teens represents the next logical expansion of VIP programs and services to address the crisis currently facing foster youth.

For the Hope Center for Teens Capital Campaign, we are encouraging supporters to make donations in the name of their children, so as to keep the focus on the fragile population this center will serve.
